The 15 Commitments Coaches Certification Training F.A.Q.

Jim Dethmer and Diana Chapman founded The Conscious Leadership Group (CLG) to support the expansion of conscious leadership in the world. The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership, described in detail in their best-selling book of the same name, are at the heart of the CLG body of work. This training focuses on how to embody these commitments in your own life and use them in one-on-one coaching with organizational leaders. This program will not be focusing on group facilitation of the commitments.

What is The 15 Commitments Coaches Certification Training?

The 15 Commitments Coaches Training is a one-year program designed to support organizational coaches to develop mastery in:

  • Living The 15 Commitments 
  • Holding space for other individuals to live The 15 Commitments
  • Coaching one on one clients using The 15 Commitments and other CLG tools

Who is this training for?

(1) Coaches who have:

Basic coaching certification or training. 

  • This program is not for people who want to learn the basics of how to coach individuals. We assume that you already have both coaching knowledge and skill.

A coaching practice with organizational leaders (people who work in organizations as managers with direct reports). 

  • This program is not designed for coaches who are just beginning their practice, looking to learn the basics, and/or build a new business. We admit  experienced coaches who want to learn how to masterfully embody The 15 Commitments and to coach using the CLG  coaching model.
  • This program is not for coaches who primarily work with individuals who are not leaders in organizations, e.g. life coaches, relationship coaches.

(2) HR/OD/Human Capital professionals who coach organizational leaders as part of their professional responsibility.

When does the training start?

The training will begin in November 2022.

What is the meeting structure of the training?

The training is delivered in four components:

  1. In-Person Whole Group Retreats
  2. Virtual Whole Group Meetings
  3. Virtual Learning Pod Meetings
  4. Virtual Learning Partner Calls

Attendance at all events, both virtual and in-person, is mandatory.

(1) In-Person Retreats (Whole Group)

Jim and/or Diana will facilitate all in person events along with a team of CLG certified and experienced coaches. Retreats are located in the US and will be within a 2 hour drive of a major airport. All retreats begin at 1 PM on day 1 and end at 12 PM on the final day. 

Month 1 (4-day Retreat)

  • Friday, November 4 - Monday, November 7, 2022

Month 7 (3-Day Retreat):

  • Thursday, May 11 - Saturday, May 13, 2023

Month 13 (4-Day Retreat):

  • Thursday, October 26 - Sunday, October 29, 2023

(2) Virtual Events (Whole Group)
Jim and/or Diana will facilitate all virtual events from 9:00 - 11:00 AM  PT, the second Thursday of each month, along with a team of CLG certified and experienced coaches who will staff the events.

(3) Learning Pod Virtual Meetings 

  • 4-5 members per pod led by CLG staff facilitators.
  • Ten 90-Minute Meetings 
  • Pods meet in months 2-6 and 8-12. 

(4) Learning Partner Virtual Meetings

You’ll meet with your learning partner (another member of the cohort) virtually for 30-minutes per week, following the designated learning partner practice script.

What are the agreements of the training?

By applying to this program, this is what we require you to agree to. Please check in to make sure that you have a whole body yes to each of these agreements, so that they are genuinely bilateral.

Weekly Agreements

  • You agree to practice 30-minutes per week with a peer learning partner using the designated learning partner practice.
  • You agree to participate at least once a week on the group discussion board for a minimum of 30-minutes. During these 30-minutes you will post a personal update and comment on other people’s posts as you feel inspired. 
  • You agree to meditate for a minimum of 10-minutes per day.

Monthly Agreements

  • You agree to participate in a peer practice group (pod) via video 90-minutes once a month. Your group will be facilitated by a member of the CLG coaching team.
  • You agree to join a monthly 2-hour call led by Jim and/or Diana on the 2nd Thursday of every month from 9:00 - 11:00 AM PT.

Quarterly Agreements

  • You agree to provide one video recorded coaching session to Jim and Diana a minimum of 30 days before retreats #2 and #3.
  • You agree to exchange a video recorded coaching session with your learning partner and provide feedback to one another. These recordings will be exchanged in months 3, 6, 9 and 12. 

Overall

  • You agree to receive mentoring and feedback from all facilitators and participants about how you are embodying the commitments and using the
    coaching tools.
  • You agree to attend all in-person and virtual trainings with Jim and/or Diana. You agree to be present at the beginning of each training and stay until the end.

Any broken agreements not handled with integrity can be cause for dismissal from the training.

What is the unique value of the training to you?

  • The 15 Commitments Coaching Certification.
  • Access to and use of CLG coaches materials.
  • Training in how to use all CLG tools and materials.
  • Practice in using all CLG tools and materials with other coaches.
  • Daily access to a discussion board where Jim, Diana, CLG team members, and
    fellow participants will offer feedback.
  • At least two coaching sessions reviewed by Diana or Jim.

What is the unique value of the training to an employer of an individual who completes this certification?

  • You will have a teammate who has a growing mastery of how to live The 15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership, which means they will be personally more productive, effective, creative, and innovative.
  • You will have a teammate who both models and has high performing relationships with other teammates. This will likely begin to reduce overall drama on the team. 
  • You will have a teammate who can be an internal coach for your other teammates who are looking to practice The 15 Commitments in the workplace.
  • You will have an internal resource and champion for you and the organization who can support you in bringing CLG and The 15 Commitments into the organization. 

What certification will I receive?

You will receive a certification from The Conscious Leadership Group entitled “15 Commitments of Conscious Leadership Certified Coach.” This program is not affiliated with any other coaching organization. There are no continuing education or renewal requirements to maintain your certification.

Once I am certified, am I able to join the CLG Coaching Team?

Completing this program is a prerequisite for being considered to join the CLG team. However, we rarely add people to the CLG team and we are highly selective. Do not join this program expecting to become a member of the CLG coaching team. We enthusiastically support all certified participants to establish conscious leadership offerings under their own brand or organization.

How many people will be part of the training?

There will be a maximum of 20 participants.

What is the investment?

$25,000
This includes: All training and room and board for in-person retreats.
This does not include: Travel expenses to and from retreats.

When is payment due?

After acceptance, your spot will be reserved upon receipt of the 50% deposit payment. The remainder of the tuition amount is due 4 weeks later, at which time you will be fully registered for the training.

If I can’t pay in full, is there an opportunity to pay in installments? 

For special circumstances, we offer payment plans with associated fees for split payments.

What is the refund policy?

There are no refunds after you have completed your registration.

Are people asked to leave the program before it is over?

Yes. People have been asked to leave the program for the following reasons:

  • Failure to be in integrity with your agreements.
  • The CLG team believes that this program is no longer friendly for you and is not good for your overall well being.
  • The CLG team believes that you are not making a meaningful contribution to the cohort or to other individuals in the program.
  • If you are asked to leave the program, we will work with you to determine if there will be a refund of any kind.
